Computer Science
Our goal is for every student to be able to be exposed to Scratch by the time they graduate 5th grade. In order to accomplish this we:
- Have 5 teachers who are trained in basic coding, and embed the use of Scratch and another block-based programming throughout the school year. Scratch is a computer programming internet based program that allows students to learn block-based language.
- Partnered with NY Edge to provide coding opportunities during after-school for free.
- Partnered with Schools That Can participate in a two-year grant from the National Science Foundation, which provides an additional free after-school program where students are in a Makerspace environment and engage in creating with Scratch and learning basic robotics.
